Right? Legitimately confused as to how Hartford made it so highly on the list. I see nothing special about it. It's not big or interesting, unless you're an actuary.

Agree. Just to add to the whole music conversation--cities like NY, Boston, LA and Philly all have multiple top music schools/conservatories--and all are well-recognized for their world-class orchestras.

You're right, they're not on the same scale. Places like DC, Boston, NYC, Chicago, SF, etc are all on a higher level than Philly. Again, Philly isn't bad. I never said it was. Just overrated. I mean, I'd choose Philly over places like Houston, Atlanta or Indianapolis, but that just isn't saying much.

Heck, most people I know that have moved to PA for a city are choosing Pittsburgh now (partially for price) over Philly.
Oh really? That's why from 2010 to 2013, Pittsburgh grew by 139 people lol.

2010: 305,702
2013: 305,841

And from 2010 to 2013, Philadelphia grew by 27,159 people.

2010: 1,526,006
2013: 1,553,165

Haha! You're right though! Most people are choosing Pittsburgh in the state of PA!

And I agree that NYC, Chi and SF are better cities than Philly. And Los Angeles too. However, Boston and DC are definitely not. And Philly does a lot of things better than both cities just like Boston and DC does things better than Philly. The four cities that are most similar and closest to each other are Philadelphia, DC, San Francisco and Boston in this country.

Philly has a good music scene. Honestly you have to actually pay attention to it to actually know, but I doubt most people pay attention to the music scene of any city, quite frankly. Most people just purport things about music scenes based on knowing a couple of bands, and don't actually look in depth. With that being said, Philly has an excellent punk scene, if that's your cup of tea. It's not mine, but hey, this person thinks so at least, and they seem to be someone who actually pays attention. http://noisey.vice.com/blog/philadel...ntry-right-now

Also, you can't judge a cities music scene just because you don't like a certain genre. Guess what, plenty of people don't like the genre of music YOU listen to either.

LOL how does everything lately devolve into a Philly or Pittsburgh death match. Or in this case Philly AND Pittsburgh. Our Pennsylvania wing is getting more militant.

There have been quite a few Boston vs. Philadelphia fights lately too.

People post their thoughts, those that don't agree get upset and proceed to make several posts as to why the person who stated their opinion is wrong. If someone feels Philadelphia is overrated why get upset? That's simply their opinion.

Your obsession with putting down Pittsburgh is really pathetic

Because plenty of non-Pennsylvanians on this website have demonstrated that they know ****-all about either city.

The ignorance displayed on this website is not limited to what's said about two specific cities in one state. I've seen plenty of representatives from both places do the same thing in return.
