Suicide rates are more closely correlated with poverty and isolation than they are with climate/latitude. This is why rates are sky-high in the interior West, the Desert Southwest, Appalachia, and impoverished areas of the South. Minnesota is consistently on the low end of scale, due largely in part to higher living standards and accessibility to affordable healthcare.

Where in MN do you live that you can't take your kids out in Feb, March or April? I know Feb is cold, but March and April are usually decent - enough where kids can be outside.
