For being such small states, both Vermont and Maine offer an amazing array of local breweries.
Vermont is the best state at doing the best things in life, the best way possible. I <3 Vermont.

Considering California on its own has about 40 million citizens, why shouldn't it? Northwest, for example, has 11.6 million and they're safely clobbering CA plus Hawaii in the poll. Add up some of the rest if you want and I think you'll see CA+Hawaii is more than a fair region.

Or did you just want to ?

If I drive 7 hours home to Pittsburgh from Chicago for example, I will not be able to purchase Three Floyd's at any of the local stores, and will not likely find it on tap anywhere. Craft breweries have a distribution radius and cannot be purchased just anywhere. Seasonal and rotational brews are especially difficult to obtain when searching out of the region that they are brewed (and sometimes even hard to find within that region for select beers). Microbreweries and small independent brewers are certainly territorial and often don't even distribute within their own cities extensively let alone spanning regions.
I think he meant what he said...

I don't get it. You want me to add up the populations of regions? To what end? You literally just proved that number of citizens is irrelevant... So my comment still stands.
