For the record, OP. There are several cities on your list that I don't even think should be there. Jacksonville for instance. There is so little about Jacksonville today that is Southern. I think some Southerners like to think they still have a cultural enclave among the major Florida metros but none of them today are really Southern.
There is absolutely zero justification for including a place like Jacksonville in the debate and not including a place like Nashville if talking about the South.
And DEEP South for Jacksonville??? Not even a slight chance.

Jacksonville seems pretty Southern to me. There's a reason people say it feels more like south GA than FL.

Oh, please. Jax is MOST DEFINITELY southern. Any city where half of downtown is owned by the First Baptist Church is gonna be SOUTHERN. It's practically in Georgia. Most of Florida thinks it is, anyway.
As to the OP ... Jax isn't the most gay-friendly town in the south, but it's not the worst, either.

The DEEP SOUTH stops just north of Orlando, around Ocala. Everything in Florida north of there, and west to Alabama, is most absolutely SOUTHERN (and parts of inland Florida all the way down to Lake Okeechobee as well). If you don't believe Florida is Southern, just get off the interstates and drive the back roads. It can make South Georgia look urban by comparison.
I would have voted Nashville but it wasn't on the list! I have only been there for a business trip for a week but I had dinner at a place called tracks and the whole street had a thriving gay nightlife.
Did you mean Suzy Wong's on Church Street perhaps? That's where most of the gay bars are in Nashville. Trax is sort of "off the beaten path" and by itself.

I remember when the Chute was pretty much the only thing going in Nashville. That was a long time ago.

I was definitely at Trax. Very close to downtown. I thought I saw at least 4 gay bars clustered right there. Maybe my eyes deceived me because Trax was so big.
