Great to see the economy growing and very interesting about California surpassing Brazil. Pretty amazing. Also surprised that Alaska was the one to lose GDP.

correlation with population. Though Florida has a long way to go to match New York seeing as how they will likely become the third most populous state in a couple years.

It is, but that doesn't mean mining doesn't have an effect on the economy. Obviously it'd be much more devastating if oil and gas dried up, but mining is still a piece of the puzzle.
