Walking to the nearest corner store in the hood in Atlanta will probably on average take twice as long than walking though the hood in Chicago due to Atlanta's street layout.
At the end of the day, it all depends on personal preference I guess.

Exactly. South Atlanta might look like a bad neighborhood in the metro I live in now whereas South Chicago would feel like East New York.
