LA may have things that they own. However NYC has more things, because NYC is more influential than NYC

Culver City is pretty much Los Angeles since it's surrounded by LA.

If we wanted to be really nitpicky, we could mention that SONY is actually headquartered in Tokyo.

Anyhow, all these LA companies are powerful and all, but it still doesn't size up too well against NYC--it's been detailed earlier in this topic, but NYC is definitely the media capital with most of the major television studios, advertising agencies, and publishing houses based here (I think we can agree that TV and print combined are far more influential than movies).

New York is mostly the middle man and owns those companies because they fall under the cable network catagory base, Viacom, Timewarner. There real physical locations are else where; ESPN in Connecticut and some officies in LA, CNN in Atlanta, TBS and cartoon network also Atlanta. So see the real HQ are not in New York as you refered to about LA. NBC, CBS, ABC all have officies in LA as well, but the use New York cause of the News Corp.

New York dosent even have TV studios except for the News Corp. All the shows are made in LA. Sometimes a show gets done in NY, but it's on a one person camcorder and it's limited. They have a small editing studio and that's it. New York might own those companies financially, but not physicaly. LA also owns most of the adverstising industry as well.

By middle man you mean the actual headquarters where most of the actual decisions are made? All the majors have several branch offices, but they are branch offices, not the headquarters. On top of that, NYC also has a strong production base for television (is that what you mean by "real physical locations"?).
