So I decided to look up what percentage of a metros population consists of a specified age group. Only metros over 1 million are included. Maybe I could've used the median age stat, but I wanted to be more specific. So here we go...

So what do you all think? What metros/cities do any of you perceive to be the oldest or youngest in terms of age? Do these places do a good or bad job catering to their prominent age groups? Feel free to share anything else regarding the age of a metros population.

All data comes from the 2013 ACS by the Census Bureau.

First thought - Pitt sure skews old for a city in the midst of a supposed hipster renaissance.

Though C-D is the first place I'd ever heard of it, and I've been involved in booking "hip" bands/artists for many years.

I found the high 18-29 percentage for areas like Buffalo and Rochester to be interesting considering the percentages for the other age groups. It may be due to the amount of colleges/college students in the area.

Yeah, Pittsburgh kind of surprised me. Maybe the city itself might have more younger people while the suburbs tend to be a little older. I'm not quite sure though.

The city of Pittsburgh is young; The balance of Allegheny County is older but has stopped aging, and the six outlying metropolitan counties are aging rapidly. As is the case with many other demographic and socioeconomic trends, what's happening in the city of Pittsburgh (and Allegheny County to a lesser degree) is getting washed out in the metropolitan data at large.

This one surprised me as well. I wasn't expecting Las Vegas to have that many teens and children.
