I'm looking through grad programs and my top picks are in these four states. I want to know their high points. Being a lover of the outdoors, diversity, and culture, I want a place where my fiance and can start our married life without too much worry. Pictures are a Plus!
I'm biased, but Colorado is pretty amazing, especially if you love the outdoors and great scenery! Diversity will depend on where in Colorado your school is located, though the Hispanic population is relatively high through most of the state. Here's a couple pictures from my phone. There are cultural celebrations throughout the year in Denver, including one of the nation's largest Cinco de Mayo celebrations in May, Juneteenth Festival to celebrate black culture in the Five Points neighborhood, and the Dragon Boat Festival on Sloan's Lake to celebrate Pan-Asian and Pacific culture. We enjoy 300 days of sunshine a year, about as much as most of California's major cities, and while many places dread snow in the winter, we shred it up on the slopes. We get all 4 distinct seasons, have very low humidity, and very few bugs compared to most states. Also, of the four states listed, Colorado still has the lowest cost-of-living.

VA. Best place to start a married life. Jobs, mountains, oceans, lakes, rivers, and diversity. The DC-Baltimore corridor is extremely popular with college grads.
