Cost of living: tie
Quality of life: subjective
Scenery: Greenville
Jobs: Greensboro has a larger economy and corporate base, but is really struggling with high unemployment right now. Greenville takes this one at the moment.
Culture: hmmmm...maybe Greenville by a hair
Weather: tie

I would also say Greenville in most every category as well. It is the nicest metro of its size that I've been to.

Probably Greenville in the long run. I'm pretty sure the SC Upstate is growing faster than the NC Triad, becoming more New South-ish. Its convenient location between Charlotte and Atlanta probably helps. I've heard wonderful things regarding Greenville's downtown district, apparently it's vibrant and beautiful. Winston-Salem's downtown is also pretty nice IMO, but I'm not a huge fan of Greensboro's downtown. It's nice to visit at least once, definitely for the Civil Rights museum (famous Woolworths store) and possibly grabbing a bite to eat at Natty Greene's Pub and Brewing Co. However, I feel like Winston's downtown is more vibrant, I like it better than Greensboro's. I've been around Greensboro a billion times, I have family in town and know my way around the city. Honestly, it's a little on the dull side. Downtown is getting better, but I'm still not a huge fan. It's largely suburban, a lot of sprawl which is typical for NC and most southern cities. Some hot spots like Elm and Tate Street, and I'm sure it's better during the ACC Tournament, but I don't think I'd ever live in Greensboro/Guilford County. I'd much rather live in Winston-Salem. I'd imagine the scenery being better in Greenville, closer to the Blue Ridge Mountains. Greensboro lacks pine trees which I always enjoy seeing for some reason. I'm sure Greensboro is colder, further north and not too far from the Virginia border. But don't quote me on that.

My opinion is completely different regarding WS and GBoro downtowns. I've always felt the Greensboro had the more vibrant and fun downtown.

Greenville's is superior, though.

I think Greensboro definitely has a more vibrant nightlife scene downtown, but Winston's downtown is more developed overall. Greensboro's downtown is making great strides in the development department right now though, and I've heard and read that Winston's is starting to become more vibrant in the evenings.
