Charlotte is a Bible Belt buckle, and the rural areas of NC aren't dissimilar from the rural areas of SC and TN. I'm sure people will disagree, but I'm just saying...
I know ... but NC is the lesser of the evils from what I've seen in the news.
I would say NC & SC &TN are similar as far as Business opportunities, demographics/population, metros(Charlotte/Greensboro-Winston-Salem/Raleigh-Durham vs Charleston/Columbia/Greenville-Spartanburgh vs Knoxville/Nashville/Memphis). All states have beautiful cities, blue ridge/smokey mountains, lakes, & rivers, but Carolina has the Atlantic Ocean & awesome beaches which Tennessee will never have being land-locked. If you do not like sand, saltwater, seafood, & sun then you might not be human!

Rivers and the like are nice but there is nothing equivalent or quite like being on the coast or the exposure to the ocean that is an area Tennessee great as it is takes an L.
Nashville is clogged with transplants, and I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same situation with Knoxville later down the road. In SC, Charleston and the Upstate are growing while the SC coast is even more popular than the NC coast for northern retirees. People can point fingers at the Research Triangle and Charlotte metros in NC and say "we've lost southern roots" but it'll only be a matter of time before it happens to other portions of the South.
This is true but I get the feeling what's happening in NC is unique although the Atlanta area is probably similar especially with it being so many people from the Northeast can't tell you how many people from NYC and elsewhere other NY cities,Boston etc I've seen down here....As far as Southern roots I think it depends where you go I have alot of family in the Triad area and its still for the most part very Southern and I love that.

Yeah, but if you live in, say Nashville, you have a straight shot to the Florida Panhandle beaches, which are the most beautiful beaches in Florida.
