True. What Outkast did was bring a more conscious and artsy angle to the southern sound. That's what made them stars.
Houston epitomizes the term "underdog". They never have sought the pop culture shine that Atlanta has, but it's the quality of the music that makes them stand out. There's a reason why the average Atlanta rapper is popular for about two years...while Bun B has enjoyed a relevant career spanning four decades; longer than virtually any rapper from anywhere in the country.
LOL,Yall sound so desperate.
Bun B?LOL ok
So the fact that Atlanta can capitalize on what Houston obviously could not should embarrass you.Atlanta rappers perfected and made the soun available to the masses. If it was so good in Houston why don't people want to hear more Houston artist? Why get mad at Atlanta for taking to a level Houston could not?
The bottom line is ATLANTA NOT houston is where world wide people repeat songs about or with the "A"or ATL in them.I have never heard people who love hip hop worldwide mention "H-Town".
Thats 2 years more than most Houston rappers ever get nationally or internationally.
But where is Paul Wall?Slim Thug?or any other Houston rapper now?
What is Houston most famous rapper?
Lots of people in the underground scene know who K-Rino is worldwide. He does shows (many sold out) in Europe and New Zealand. As far as Houston being a small blimp, I'm going to disagree with that. And as far as Atlanta influence more than any other city other than NYC. That's debatable. LA and the Bay Area is very influential as well. Houston is influential as well.
Im not doubting the influence in the past but here and now its still Atlanta.Personally I think Houston does have a legit scene but of you can't capitalize on it then who listening other than a small minority no matter how good it eventually dies.
Bun B?LOL ok

Sad how ppl think because they city gets more radio play that that means its better. Slim thug is still making songs that get alot of views on YouTube along with bun b. Paul wall is still grindin and making custom jewelry too. Ill take real slab music over Atlanta's music any day. I'm glad nobody knows about Houston's best rappers such as lil keke and fat pat. Real recognize real. Real Atlanta ppl know what's up.

Atlanta rappers mention Houston all the time. From t.I to young thug to future. All have made songs with Houston rappers and all have paid respects to Houston rap culture. Houston will always be the godfather of southern rap.

Mainstream-wise for Houston, I think Kirko Bangz and maybe Trae Tha Truth. Idk I'm not from Houston.
I liked Trae's "I'm From Texas" music video that was on MTV back in 2012. That jont cranked!
