Have fun with that.

This is an interesting study, but it has the inherent problem of being limited only to the group of cities randomly chosen for inclusion by the researchers. For example, among North American cities; no Philadelphia, Houston, Montreal, or Atlanta--but Seattle is included?

They wanted to hold it to just 50 cities.

The omission of Washington D.C. to me is the only thing I found startling about it but this same agency includes it in most of it's other city brand indexes, along with Montreal and Houston sometimes.

Miami is left off, while it would be towards the top of the lists for places like Argentina, it would plummet to bottom three in the 50 for several places like South Korea, South Africa, so on. So they disqualified it immediately.

Yea, I forgot Washington. I think my ultimate point is that the first six cities you listed are undeniably among the ten most prominent in North America. However, there are at least eight other cities that would logically be considered for the last four spots before Seattle.

I do think it's interesting to see how those top six play out.

Shows that Americans typically have a lower opinion of Los Angeles than the rest of the world. No surprise Japan and South Korea are the ones that find LA most important (ie give it its highest rank.).

Probably should be in the world forum. Surprised to see Chicago ranked above Toronto for China.

i always aimed it was common opinion that nyc was the most important economic city but it's average place like a 5 or 6... we're the only ones to rank it 1.

we also ranked all of our cities in the top 10.

i wonder who averaged the top spot.

That, or they chose cities in their own countries first simply because they have that bias (like Canada choosing Toronto then New York). NY is pretty damn close to top in every single one and is always the top US city. I assume cities put ahead of it are cities within those countries in which people were surveyed or a city like London, maybe Tokyo, Hong Kong - other alpha + or whatever they are cities. A European might find London slightly more important to them than New York, perhaps because it's more familiar or accessible, for example.
