I am looking to move west and I have family in ABQ and LV. I have never been to either but am definately planning trips to view both. But I would like an unbiased veiwpoint from individuals who have lived in both places or at least visited LV for a long while enough to make a VALID comparison. Looking forward to viewing what you have to say!!
Well the Vegas area is MUCH MUCH MUCH Hotter. Summer degress are frequently 105+. Albuquerque tends to be more milder, but quite a bit colder in the winter. However, Albuquerque's climate is very mild.
They are both great cities, ABQ is definitely more unique with more local shops and such. Henderson reminds me of a cross between Chandler and Scottsdale, AZ. Henderson is new and clean with pleanty of fun in neighboring Vegas, but it is full of your National Chains and no real identity of its own (largely due to the newness of the city). Henderson is family oriented and is only a 15 to 20 minute drive from Lake Mead. As for ABQ read through some of the post and you should get an excellent feel for our great city.
