In all honesty, I don't understand the hyper-obsession with race and other "identity" categorizations here on C-D. As long as you're a good person and not a jerk, what does it matter what race someone is or what the racial makeup of an area is? I mean, hello??? lol

So True and Agreed!!! I'm black and I don't like Jerks or Crazies of any race period ... Character is key here..
This list doesn't tell the entire story because of larger cities. It has PA at 78% white, when the 3 counties I spend most of my time in are over 97% white. Growing up in an area like this makes me appreciate places that actually are diverse. I love places like California and Arizona because of the huge diversity that I didn't grow up with.
This post pretty much mirrors my own sentiments, having lived mostly in Pennsylvania, but in a 98% white, rural community. When I was younger, and vacation time from my job accumulated, I would pack one bag and just go "exploring" for two or three weeks, with Greyhound/Trailways providing most of the transportation -- just to remind myself that my home base was a lot different from the real America.

Real America? So only what ever city you went to is "real America" and any rural area isn't "real America"
I have to go all the way down to the 40s before I find states I'm happy living in...
42. Arizona
43. Florida
44. Georgia
45. Maryland
46. Nevada
49. California
50. District of Columbia
