I have to preface this by saying I have never visited Mexico city.

New York
New Orleans
Chicago
Toronto
Seattle
Miami

I wanted to work Montreal into the mix, but Iíve only been once, and donít have as good of a feel for the cityís restaurant scene.

Then, Toronto, Philly, LA, Boston, SF, Charleston.. Surprised to see Seattle on so many lists. Good Asian food, typical upscale American scene, good seafood. I never, while I lived there, thought there was any real differentiator- DC and Seattle share that in common for me. Not a lot of great Mediterranean, Italian, French, American Steakhouses.. For my taste, those are still the staple of a great food city.

Oh man, good thread, but so many options. Hard to order them, but #1 is not in dispute:

1. New York City (by FAR the best options of any city in North America)
2. Los Angeles
3. Atlanta
4. Nashville
5. Denver

Are you saying Seattle doesn’t have great Steakhouses or am I misinterpreting??....Metropolitan Grill and John Howie are very good (and I’m a Peter Luger snob who would be quick to knock them if they were not good)...doesn’t move Seattle up to my top 5 list but that was one area that this particular city does better than all other West Coast cities.
