I never stated they don't like hanging out in Manhattan. This entire thing is about food, and I wouldn't say Manhattan is a slacker in the category in an absolute sense. Relatively is the point though and how a lot of them are. If they've been exposed to a place like Flushing enough, they realize it definitely has better mainland food.

Also the best Bahn Mi I've had anywhere (never been to Vietnam) and very good Ethiopian and Middle Eastern food as well.

For me it would be:

San Francisco - Standards for food there are just incredibly high and it excels in so many cuisines. Pound for pound it's number 1 for me

NYC - as a result of the sheer quantity NYC has more amazing places to eat than any other city, by far. Every category is covered.

Seattle - The seafood (ranging from fish and chip shacks to fine dining) and Southeast Asian food are the very best in the country, in my opinion. So many places have Pad See Ew and Bahn Mi that will blow your mind. Also excellent Ethiopian and Middle Eastern food. I'm a sucker for a Seattle-style hot dogs with cream cheese and sriracha late night as well.

Chicago - Amazing Greek and Indian food. I love Chicago-style pizza but the city also has many vastly underrated thin-crust pizza places. Italian Beef, Chicago-style hot dogs, etc.

Nashville A bit of a wildcard, but I honestly cannot sing the praises of Nashville Hot Chicken enough. It is so absurdly good. Also great soul food and generally high standards across the board.
