I think you mean that the map strangely has Long island in New England and the rest of New York in the Middle Atlantic but still the northeast. The map clearly shows the northeast being consisted of two sub regions which are the northeastern mid atlantic states of New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey and the Northeastern New England states. That particular map is nearly identical with the census map with exception of long island being in New England which I assume is a error or typo.

I wonder how long he searched to find a map that was as skewered as his own perception? An hour?

I'm from Wisconsin, and I'm a Northerner. Period. I would know.
