Another thread is being derailed from its intended purpose with a comparison that has strictly become Atlanta versus Mexico City. I will go ahead and throw my own city, Miami, into the fold so that way it would be a bit more interesting with more choices overall and so that Atlanta wont be the only place having to match up to a global hypercity.
I suppose usual things like cultural institutions, food scene, scenery, weather, location, job market, infrastructure, amenities, diversity, and so on have to be a fundamental part of the thread.
Keep the comparison of everything within the MSA/CSA/Metropolitan region borders for each place unless the only criteria that matters to you is location, then obviously worthwhile to look beyond those boundaries.
Mexico City by a long shot. A true world city. History, architecture, shopping, dining, cultural amenities, nightlife, public transportation, density goes to Mexico City by far. One of the most interesting and enjoyable cities I ever set foot in.
If i could have an international career...Mexico City since yesterday. The immense culture and energy can't be matched by either Miami or Atlanta. Not to mention that el DF is within a few hours drive of gorgeous well preserved colonial towns in central Mexico.
Having that said, I dont see myself having a career where Mexico City would be an option, so I would move to Atlanta before Miami. Miami is a bit overpriced for what it has to offer...for those prices, i prefer California. So, IMO Atlanta is a better bang for the buck.
For me:
1)Mexico City

2)Atlanta

3)Miami
