New York's nightlife thrashes Boston's in all honesty, in every facet.

What were you thinking?

No contest...Boston was completely boring compared to NYC.

Any city that asks a question and NYC the answer will usually be NYC.

Wow, so many negative comments about Boston. It's not NYC, but it's not some small town either.

I have visited several times and just wasn't impressed. My opinion is unusual though - most people seem to love Boston whether they have ever been there or not.

I really like Boston, but nightlife isn't one of its stronger points. Its nightlife is probably much better than Western Massachusetts, though...

Well, we went to see Breakbeat Lou @ The Middle East Saturday night, so Boston nightlife is alright by me. Also caught Bob Moses and Mano Le Tough Friday night.

IMO, if you find Boston boring, you're just a boring person.

Boston is a great city - there's so much history and culture, and it's a very urban and pedestrian-friendly streetscape. Public transit is also one of the best in the country. But as others have said the nightlife is lacking in quantity, depth and excitement - options feel more limited than you'd expect for a city of Boston's caliber. That's not to say there aren't some nice bars and pubs to hang out in, but it's clearly a weak point for the city.
