How does this make Minneapolis/St. Paul better than Pittsburgh? Nobody has yet to establish this for me.
Generally when a city is losing population, that means that people are moving away en masse. No idea why they would be doing that in Pittsburgh. It seems like a great place to live (as is MSP).

Well, you're pretty misinformed. People aren't moving away from the Pittsburgh area en masse, or at all. That happened more than 30 years ago when the steel industry collapsed. As a result Pgh had an older population for most of the past 30 years, but now the demographics have changed and more people are moving in than leaving. The population has stabilized.

They aren't leaving Pittsburgh en masse. The people who left 20 to 40 years ago also took away their children leaving fewer births in the area currently with a high death rate leading to more deaths than births, similar to what is going on in some parts of Europe.
To be fair, I never set out to diss Pittsburgh or even trash the city. It's unfortunate that many of you "homers" get all bent out of shape when comparing. At the end of the day I feel Minneapolis-St Paul is just a metro of a higher caliber. It's not to say that Pittsburgh is not a nice city. I would say maybe you are more comparable to Austin, Texas, Tulsa, Oklahoma or Charlotte, NC. Throw in Des Moines and Omaha and you are looking nice. Maybe those are match ups in the appropriate class?

They're not doing that in Pittsburgh, though. Here's the real problem:
On the other hand, notice how more people are moving in than out.
I'm not so sure, those old Norwegians will shiv you with a lefse stick and tell you bad jokes as you lie there dying. Old world style tough. Even the Italians won't touch them.
