Good luck with that. It's very weird to see GE anywhere but metro NYC (Jersey would make the most sense, but whatevs), but any city/state fighting for their HQ is feeding into their plans to let somebody else subsidize millionaires and their mega-billion-dollar company. I'm so sick and tired of greedy companies doing this to their hometowns and home countries (Medtronic!) -- it's a race to the bottom, if you ask me (for the subsidizer).
They certainly will not move to Cleveland and why Jersey?? Companies are moving from there left and right. Example,, Atlanta just got Mercedes Benz headquarters from Jersey...
A noticeable loss for Minneapolis is Medtronic, Inc. They decided it was time to avoid paying U.S. taxes and open a small, "corporate" office in Ireland called Medtronic plc. All of Medtronic's executives, including the CEO, remain in Minneapolis though.
Was wondering what happened to them on the list. That's pretty sad - I know of a few other big companies who have toyed with that idea.

Probably because they live in the suburbs and Atlanta is not big enough in population to have such a high increase like that - not much different than a lot of other major cities where many execs choose to live in the suburbs.

Because many of the executives don't even live in Atlanta.
For example, CNN. The CEO, executives and the top anchors have all fled Atlanta and moved to New York in the past few years, but the official headquarters still remains Atlanta (for now), for costs savings I presume.
Sometimes CEOs move corporations just because they want to live somewhere (i.e. Anheuser Busch and Cadillac recently moved to Manhattan just because their CEOs wanted to live there), but it doesn't make much sense imo. Once you're an executive, it's easy to leave the corporation in a low-tax place and just commute from where you really want to live to headquarters w/ jet.

In the suburbs, housing is dirt cheap. Not exactly in the central, eastern, and northern parts of the city of Atlanta. Neighborhoods like Buckhead, Inman Park, Virginia Highlands, Peachtree Hills are super expensive to own in and evening renting is starting to get expensive.
A lot of Atlanta's wealth concentration is in Buckhead and the northern suburbs.
This list would be much more interesting looking at the Fortune 100 companies. 1 company in the top 10 is easily worth 50-100 smaller companies in the end of the top 500.
Not necessarily,Some companies have lower revenue but have a high number of employeess.That more importatnt than having a office to call their headquarters with far less people usually.
