2024 is 40 years after the last LA games. Athletes competing in the 2024 games weren't even proto sperm or zygotes in 1984.

LA can easily pull it off. By that time LA will have at least one new stadium in addition to the Coliseum, Rose Bown, HubbStubb Stadium. a new velodrome was built a few years back to replace the 1984 velodrome.

There have been plans to make the 1932 Marine Stadium (Rowing/Kayak/Long Distance swimming) a FISA compliant course, if not barring another drought, there are plenty of local lakes and reservoirs)

LA is one of the few cities that have held every major sporting event: Olympics, Mens and Womens Soccer World Cup, Super Bowls, World Series, NBA, NHL Championships, et al . They could easily do another olympics on short notice

London Olympics: How the Games Help Urban Development – State of the Planet

Urban revitalization and infrastructure improvements are some of the biggest pluses to hosting the games. Arguably the only pluses.

The Olympic comittee is just as corrupt as FIFA and do not be shocked if they get wracked with an indictment soon as well.

LA would be a good bid, venues are already in place, so no need for major capital outlay. I will be honest, I hope that DC is not in the running again. Chicago is the only other US city I can see doing it at a low cost.

It'll probably be a long time before Chicago throws its hat back in the ring. After the 2016 disaster, Mayor Emanuel's office flat out stated that Chicago wasn't interested in 2024.

I hope LA gets the 2032 Olympics for a centennial celebration of the first games of 1932. By then the subway to the VA and Westwood should be done. Maybe the Valley to Westside connection done. Hopefully all the LAX renovations and terminals and airport connector will be done and smooth. The LA River project done. High Speed rail done. All these things are getting done or in process even without the Olympics, but with the a games confirmed it will keep things on schedule or fast tracked to completion.

I believe to host the Olympics these days you must have a very good public transit system. LA would basically be forced to build more lines. Which is a good thing.

If Atlanta was able to host an Olympics couldn't just about any city in the U.S. host it?

I believe there had been some grumbling by top brass at the IOC over how the Olympics in Atlanta went.

I would too. A lot of the subway lines that are under construction will be completed by 2024. The city's layout will be completely changed by then.
