Philly has some good movies that hit a lot of genres.
Drama: Philadelphia with Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington
Suspense/horror: Sixth Sense
Sports: Rocky
Comedy: Trading Places
Scifi: 12 Monkeys
Adventure: National Treasure
Classic: Philadelphia Story
Detective: Witness
Documentary: 30 For 30: Final Shot (Let the Fire Burn is another good one).
Idk there are others like Silver Lining Playbook, World War Z, Unbreakable, Law Abiding Citizen.
12 Monkeys was excellent. Terry Gilliam's style meshes with the Philadelphia setting perfectly.
The LA ones you mentioned are good but very limited in scope (South central/gangs/violence) compared to the huge breadth of films that show different sides of this city.
Agree!
Of the few from your list that I saw I think your right on. The ones that I've seen from your list that immediately came to my mind were from 1980 on in no order:
Swingers
Point Break
Friday
Boogie Nights
Fast Times At Ridgemont High
To LA add:
Quinceanera
Maybe a Cheech & Chong movie thrown in the mix
Sideways
Chicago had the John Hughes era (especially High Fidelity)
The Blues Brothers
The Sting

Meet me in St.Louis
Pride of St.Louis
Fighting Father Dunne
The Black Hole
The Hoodlum Priest
The Great St.Louis Bank Robbery
White Palace
The Glass Menagerie
It Happens Every Spring
Spirit Of St.Louis
Manhunter
Identity Thief
The Game Of Their Lives
Cleveland has some good characters in these movies:
American Splendor
Antwone Fisher
Major League
The Fortune Cookie
A Christmas Story
Captain America
Captain America:Winter Soldier
Draft Day
Almost Famous
Happy Gilmore (some of it)
Spider Man III
The Avengers
Benji (1974)
Debbie Does Dallas
North Dallas Forty
It Takes Two
Talk Radio
Office Space
Dr. T & the Women
Parkland
Dallas Buyers Club
... I'd say DFW is more known for TV shows than film.
