You may want to check out the Monterey peninsula. Not tropical but a better vacation spot.

Ahem. Back to the game:

Carlsbad v Folsom CA

In 2016 I pick Folsom because it is closer to the mountains. In 1916 I would have chosen Carlsbad. That whole area is too overpopulated now.

Burlington, VT v Williamstown, MA?

I really like both, but I'll go with Burlington.

Hartford, CT or Albany, NY?

Boston because my sister lived there for a time and it was fun to visit her.

Corpus Christi, TX or Mobile, AL?

Oh, Fargo in a heartbeat. Odessa is high desert plateau and visually offputting and really in the middle of nowhere. (Yes, I once spent the night in Odessa, and have used the Midland/Odessa airport several times!) Plus I hate football. Fargo has a kind of ratty downtown and I'd rather pick other places in ND, but it's sure better than Odessa!

LaPlace, Louisiana or Edina, Minnesota?

Edina for sure. Lovely place.

Avalon, Catalina Island, CA or Edgartown, Martha's Vineyard, MA?

I've never been either place, so will pick Key West purely because of film/literary portrayals of the area.

Savannah, GA or Quebec City, (I don't know the abbreviation for) Quebec?
