Hilo, HI or Oakland, CA
Oakland, CA

Oakland does have some decent neighborhoods, despite the crime reports from the troubled ones. Oakland is close to a lot of nice getaways too (SF, Napa/Sonoma Wine country, etc). Weather is as nice as Hilo IMO. Has pro sports teams, which Hawaii lacks, too.

I know a lot of people in the Bay Area, Sacramento area, and Monterey County. Don't know anyone in Hawaii. (Hilo would be better to visit, though).

Portland, OR or San Diego, CA ?

Miami. Warmer summers, nice beaches, access to Keys/Orlando etc. and I like Florida more than Colorado.

Fort Myers, FL or Mesa AZ?

Fort Myers. Dry air gives me nose bleeds. Oh, and no state income tax.

Selma, Alabama or Bend, Oregon?

Jackson, TN because Tennessee.

Harris County, TX; or DuPage County, IL.

Harris County, because it contains Houston, wheras DuPage County doesn't contain Chicago, and is therefore rather boring. Also, Houston has better weather.
Up next, the battle of the exclaves:
Point Roberts, WA vs Angle Inlet, MN

I will take Point Roberts in the battle of the exclaves because of the Pacific Northwest landscape.

Victoria, TX versus Valdosta, GA

Valdosta, GA. Closer to Florida beaches and a nice historic area.

Fresno, CA or Milwaukee, WI?
