Nacogdoches, because no state income tax, and it's closer to a larger metro area (Houston)

Abilene, KS

Miami, TX is tiny and remote with about 600 people. Abilene has about 6,500. Abilene has the Eisenhower home & museum. Kansas City, MO is slightly over 2 hours away. Denver is 6-7 hours west. Probably a little greener than Miami, TX too.

San Antonio, TX or St. Louis, MO ?
