Logan, UT.

Less crime, and homeless issues than Redding, closer to a major city (and a major airport). Housing prices a little lower. And, state income taxes are lower in Utah than in California. I live in California, and like it a lot, but every time I visit Utah, I really like it! And, no, I'm not LDS.
