Both Washington DC and Baltimore are slightly over 100 miles away. Would guess that summer evenings are a little more comfortable. Do like that Salisbury, NC is 45 miles to Charlotte, but that is not quite enough to outweigh the advantages of Salisbury, MD.

Dayton, OH or Hamilton, OH ?
Hamilton. It's 40 miles away from Dayton.

Indianapolis, IN or Omaha, NE?

Indianapolis. It's bigger, downtown looks interesting, and it's closer to Chicago, and less cold.

Mobile AL or Pensacola, FL?

Pensacola. Better access to beaches and the Emerald Coast. Plus I was born there.

Wilmington, DE or Syracuse, NY?

Wilmington, DE. The winter is less severe and it’s closer to several large cities.

Fort Collins, CO or Bend, OR?

Fort Collins, CO

Bend is closer to people I know in CA, but still a considerable distance (approx 500 miles to the Bay Area). Fort Collins is a little larger and just a 2 hour drive from a friend in Colorado Springs that I have known since high school. Has a nice downtown and a large college (Colorado State) with major college sports & events. Bend only has a junior college. Fort Collins is just 1 hour to Denver while Bend is 3 hours to Portland.

Denison, IA or Denison, TX ?

Have to go with Denison, TX. Closer to larger city, and appears to offer more services.

Hinton, OK or Hinton, WV?

Hinton, WV

Has more scenic beauty and is an easier place from which to explore the eastern US/mid-Atlantic/DC region.

Their NFL teams play on Thursday night:

Kansas City, MO or Oakland, CA ?

I don't know anything about either town, but I would definitely choose WV over OK, because I have a gazillion prejudices against OK.

Fairhope, AL or Newport, RI?

Newport, RI

Scenic and affluent waterfront town within easy reach of several major northeast cities like Providence, Boston, etc. & other NE visitor destinations/beautiful fall color. Summers with less severe heat/humidity and shorter duration than Fairhope. Could adapt to a 4 seasons climate.

Pittsburgh, PA

In an under-rated scenic area. 3 rivers. 3 major league sports teams. Much improved from a few decades ago, both the urban development/neighborhoods & the food. Prestigious colleges. Easy drive to Ohio attractions (Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Cleveland & NFL Hall of Fame, Canton). Could adapt to a 4 seasons climate. Louisville has Churchill Downs, but horse races are not a passion or bucket list item for me.

Another choice between two cities whose NFL teams play on Sunday:

Dallas, TX or San Francisco, CA ?
