Tough one. Melbourne has better beaches, but Galveston has more charm. I'll go with Galveston, as it has the edge architecturally.
Fairhope, AL or Dunedin, FL?

Both look nice, but I'll choose Dunedin, FL because I'd rather be in Florida and it's close to Tampa and St.Petersburg. Plus no income tax.

Garibaldi, OR or Winter Harbor, ME?

Boise, it strikes me as a smaller but more scenic Denver.

Hartford, CT or Albany, NY?

Albany, NY for the longer and snowier winters. It's also closer to where my family lives and to the Adirondacks, Finger Lakes, etc.

Bellingham, WA or Redding, CA?

For a town of that scale, Bellingham is as good as it gets.

River Oaks, TX or San Marino, CA?

So weird that you posted these just after me, as I came this close to posting the same two cities just before you.
I really like Madison, a really well-rounded college town.

Palm Beach, FL or LaJolla, CA?

Boise...seems like a more down to earth type of place...also a lot less humid and less expensive place to live.

La Crosse, WI or Morgantown, WV?
