Concord, Mass, it's a beautiful town. It's not hard to imagine what it looked like in the late 18th century with a nice historic stock of real colonial housing. Most of the town is zoned as semi rural with plenty of acreage and a nice pastoral look. Swimming at Walden Pond is a nice benefit in the summer. All within the suburban belt of Boston, nice place.
Nantucket, MA or Great Barrington, MA?
Great Barrington is more up to my speed, considering it's landlocked. Colder winters and more snow too.
Oops I was too slow. Cleveland but I realize I haven't spent much time in Charlotte and it is very possible my answer could change if I were to get to know it well.

Houston v Dallas
Definitely Dallas. I like the Deep Ellum neighborhood and my family lives in the area.
Tallahassee if only for being closer to a beach and road trips to New Orleans.
Williamstown, MA or Wellfleet, MA?
Williamstown. One, I like Williams College; two, it's not as bleak in the winter - that season becomes the Berkshires.
Joplin, Mo., or St. Joseph, Mo.?
