I'm currently researching to move to Portland from Chicago. I love Chicago, but after 6 years it's time for a change. I set my sights on Portland and was hoping to get some feedback from folks who know both cities pretty well. I'm going out to visit in October and will try to get a feel for myself, but your feedback would be super helpful.
I've lived mainly on the north side of Chicago (I know, typical). I've been in Roscoe Village, Lakeview (Southport Corridor, Boystown) and West Town/Ukrainian Village. I really loved Ukrainian Village and tend to go out in Wicker Park, Logan Square and Pilsen. I try to avoid Wrigley and find River North and Old Town pretty lacking in personality. However, I do love a good neighborhood bar in Lakeview, like Will's Northwood, Cody's, Higgins or Four Moon Tap.
Can someone tell me what Portland neighborhoods may be comparable to some of these Chicago neighborhoods? Also, anything with a little diversity and awesome Mexican food would be great!
