Salt Lake City hands down. One out of five people are in their twenties and there is tremendous job growth.

Providence. Utah is backwards and there isn't much else nearby in terms of cities (unless you count Provo but that's not really the same...) Providence has easy access to major cities like Boston and NYC in driving distance.

Providence... only a few hours away from places you would rather be.

I vote Salt Lake City.

Providence is a more interesting city today, but SLC has a better growth trajectory for the future.

What a well thought out response...

Providence. Salt Lake has too much of a Mormon influence.

Salt Lake City. What do you use daily or weekly from Providence, R.I.? Added the R.I. as there is a Providence, UT.

If you get disposable food containers thank Huntsman Corp SLC.

SLC Int'l Airport > 21 million passengers in 2014, Delta Hub and commuter Sky West

Myriad Genetics, ARUP ' an international reference lab, Ancestory.Com and many tech businesses. Also, large Google facility.

Hosted Winter Olympics

Providence as well as Rhode Island is a very mature state so this makes Rhode Island have less growth than most places out west or down south. The northeast's booming stages are pretty much over. More and more people are fleeing the northeast especially the young population. Isn't Rhode Island's population getting older and older? Providence is however very close to Boston which is doing very well right now. I know many young professionals are interested in Boston. So a small percentage of those young professionals live in the Providence area but work in Boston. This makes Providence more attractive in some sense but it's nothing compared to Salt Lake City.

Salt Lake City and Salt Lake County are booming right now. Many businesses and companies are expanding. Way more than Rhode Island and it's seeing very healthy growth.

I like Providence but for the future...

Salt Lake City takes the cake

So SLC is better because of stop overs?
