can't vouch for Seattle but in Minneapolis, efforts to identify European Americans, and quantify whether or not they are racist, hasn't really received the legislative backing to move forward on this initiative.

Probably Seattle. Lots of white liberals there who like to proclaim that Seattle is a post-racial society, but this doesn't necessary translate into acceptance, friendships and/or relationships. In Minneapolis you see a lot of high-class white women dating black men, white/black friendships, and an overall higher familiarity with black Americans.

It would help if you detailed more about yourself. Are you the Ben Carson type of intelligent and well spoken black guy, or the Al Sharpton type of intelligent and well spoken black guy?

It would have been easier to just ask about his political ideology.

But you've gotta love it when Ben Carson has all of a sudden become a popular reference point within Black contexts for some folks. Four years ago, Herman Cain was all the rage....wonder who the Black conservative flavor of the month will be four years from now?

I'm probably an African American that's somewhere in between those two, but half their age....

Not according to the statistics. Seattle has a higher number of interracial marriages per capita than Minnesota does.

I personally would never date or marry a woman who's of European descent, but it helps to know if a city has a large amount of that sort of thing going on.

Interesting that you too that away from what I said. I am referring to their demeanor. This is actually the kind of victimization I'm talking about. The truth is that black guys like Ben Carson who don't let their race define them are well received in very white areas and tend to be financially successful in life. The blacks with a chip on their shoulders and wrapped up in a black inferiority complex aren't unless they stick to South and cities like Atlanta. Is this the part where you call me an Uncle Tom?

Interesting link.

On another note, if you would never date of person of European descent, why would you even consider a place like Seattle? Are mixed women included in the No-Europeans preference? I ask because that's pretty much all there is out there - whites and some Asians - and I got the impression you are a single guy. I am genuinely curious.

As I stated earlier I use to live in King, so I know what the demographic looks like. There were, and I assume still are, plenty of Asian women and African American women. And no, mixed women are not included in my "No-European" preference, for obvious reason(s).

I'm surprised the voting here is basically a tie - currently, Seattle would be the more attractive AA move. Twin Cities are more segregated, and there is definitely "strife" or whatever you want to call it vs the Somilian community. I know a lot of people who live in both cities, and I've never once heard anyone from Seattle bring up an ethnic "issue"; Twin Cities are a different story, even amongst some of the most "lefty" folks I've ever met. There is an especially high level of disdain from women, due to some (aggressive) cultural differences. I've actually been fairly shocked/offended by conversations with (liberal white) people I've spoken with regarding Somalis. I believe there has to be some spillover to the AA community, as well. I don't believe there is that level of tension in Seattle, but I'd be interested to hear if I'm wrong about that...

What are the obvious reasons not consider a mixed person be included in the "No European-Americans" restriction? A mixed black/white person is European-American too, as much as they are African-American.

Unless, of course, you enforce the one drop rule.
