Sure, I think that's a fair point, too.

Emory and Ga Tech are great, I'd definitely still place after DC area, maybe next in line. Still too much fire power with Univ of MD, George Washington, George Mason, Catholic U, American U, Georgetown, Trinity, and even Johns Hopkins, UMBC, Towson, Loyala MD if your talking CSA which it looks like we are. Not to mention Howard as an HBCU is larger and more prestigious than the AUC schools and at least a couple of them combined.

Honestly, I think Pittsburgh is competitive with at least a couple of cities on this list. You have Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Pittsburgh, Duquesne University, Carlow University and Chatham University all within city limits. That's two major research universities (including one "New Ivy"), two Catholic universities, and a private women's school. Outside the city limits but still in Allegheny County are Robert Morris University, La Roche College and Penn State-Greater Allegheny (née Penn State-McKeesport). So that's seven four-year colleges and universities in Allegheny County alone.

If acceptance rate is the benchmark being used, then Cooper Union should probably be thrown in for NYC as it has an acceptance rate of 8%; additionally, some of the better CUNY senior colleges have acceptance rates lower than Fordham and others that made the OP's list.

Penn's Perelman School of Medicine is the oldest medical school in the country, btw.

That could be because all of its students are full-tuition/scholarships.
