Two things are definitely a fact, geographically they are in the Northeast, but on the census the are still considered South.
But general people from what I have noticed consider other things like culture, architecture, development etc when placing cities in a region.
So after considering everything that matters, as they are now and will probably be like in the future, where do these two places fall in the 21st century?
Edit: If possible, mods please change it to 21st in the title.
In the 21st century, the two cities are a mixture of both. Always been like that, but they have gravitated more Northeastern in nature in recent decades.
Do the AA communities of Bmore and DC identify as more Southern? And the whites more Northeastern?
There is a belief that African Americans all over country are "southern" or at least "sound southern" anyways. I can see where the view comes from, but it's pretty bigoted, even in the south to an extent.
And why exactly is that? Don't just randomly make statements without giving any reasons behind it.
Even Atlanta as it is would fall into the category of the New South that's been developing in the modern era, and not the traditional/stereotypical South that people usually think of.
