Massive gap from first to second, an equally massive gap from fourth to fifth. When you go from the first to the fifth, worlds apart. Absolutely worlds apart.

I think the gap between Philly/Boston and Bmore should be lessened now that I have considered what things would be like without the Port of Baltimore.

Being the national capital and seat of the federal government of the U.S. puts D.C. in another tier in my opinion. Even if it is comparable to BOS/PHL in most other departments.

Eh, I don't think the gap from fourth to fifth is that massive. Certainly not as massive as the one from first to second is on most objective metrics (population, GDP, sports teams, skyline, etc.). New York City is wealthier than all four of these areas combined, in addition to being more populous (depending on the metric, but either way, it's close). I've been having a back-and-forth with a Baltimore poster on another thread, but I'll agree with him here in that Baltimore gets shafted pretty hard here on C-D. It should probably have the same 'gap' as the one between Washington and Boston/Philadelphia (and that 'gap' is entirely artificial due to politics, imo. DC without that is really the leader of that tier, not separated from it, when it comes to population (close), economy, etc.)
