No. I'm editing the list as the day goes on.

There are nearly as many Black people working in the arts/entertainment/media industry in L.A. as there are working as medical practitioners. There are in fact more Black people working in that field than in architecture and engineering. The stats don't exactly blow up the stereotype.

Total African Americans in Creative Class Professions by Metro Area

Charlotte - 43,436 (18.1%)
Raleigh - 25,572 (22.1%)

Nothing too surprising. Actually matches up fairly decently with educational attainment stats in most cases, as we'd expect. The Bay Area has the smallest Black professional class of these 12, but the Bay has the most educated/professional Black population overall outside of DC. New York wins on sheer numbers, as we'd also expect, but it's a far more working-class Black population than some realize. Percentage-wise, DC is heads and shoulders above the pack.

Those numbers look about right. I'd also like to see where Detroit, Charlotte, and Raleigh rank.

Is Miami not a good performer in this? That's the only metro with at least 1 million blacks that was not listed.

True, but I don't think the criteria was truly set up to include other metros beside ATL and DC. However, I made sure Houston was recognized because it fits the ridiculous criteria.

Some of the specifics were arbitrary yes, but in broader terms they were solid criteria. Like I wouldn't say a Black mecca should have four hip hop radio stations, but I do think they should have a couple that generally target Black folks, especially if they're Black-owned.
