That's it.

I was hoping some Western metros would depart from that trend but sadly they do not. The most common occupation for a Black person in Seattle is also a janitor. Same is true of Denver and Salt Lake City.
This is really sad that our people are still trying to climb out of 400 years of oppression. I know things are changing and we're achieving success at greater levels than ever before as a people, but that statistic you just posted about the most common occupation is upsetting. There is nothing wrong with being a janitor if that is what you want to be, however, I know many choose that profession out of necessity versus actually enjoying that line of work.

Boston and Houston are essentially the same in terms of percentage. So, I guess Houston is out as well. Same for Seattle, Denver and NYC.

Though making $100,000+ is more impressive in Houston than it is in NYC. If you look at median earnings for Black men working full-time...

San Francisco - $53,583
Washington - $53,368
New York - $44,442
Houston - $41,921
Philadelphia - $41,194
Atlanta - $41,150

What makes it even crazier is that there was a time where other ethnic groups were given preferential treatment even in regards to janitorial work. I was listening to Wilmer Leon the other day and this was actually mentioned on that show.

Can you pull data for those making between 50K-100K?

That is true, but I was thinking in terms of percentage. Same goes for DC, San Jose, San Francisco and a couple of other areas.

I wonder if there are percentages or figures for ranges above 100k(say 100-125k, 125-150k, etc.). That may give an idea of how far over 100k those in this category make.

I'll do it for a few metros. This is simply Black men working full-time earning $50,000 or more.

New York - 213,254 (43.5%)
Washington - 146,807 (55.2%)
Atlanta - 98,392 (37.4%)
Chicago - 78,349 (42.6%)
Houston - 65,201 (40.2%)
Philadelphia - 58,996 (37.8%)
Los Angeles - 57,833 (48.8%)

Interesting. It seems that Atlanta and Philly probably have substantially more Black women earning 50K and above than Black men, at least compared to the rest.

I haven't seen that for earnings. There is data for Black households earning $200,000 or more.

Washington - 33,672 (6.2%)
New York - 33,658 (2.8%)
Atlanta - 11,033 (1.8%)
Chicago - 9,951 (1.7%)
Los Angeles - 9,947 (2.9%)
Houston - 8,263 (2.2%)
Philadelphia - 7,501 (1.7%)
San Francisco - 5,101 (3.6%)

6.2% for D.C....wow. I guess that's what happens when you work for the federal government.
