Miami is culturally southern underneath all of the internationalism and NE transplants. The AA community is as southern as any other southern city, with box Chevys on 26s, gold teeth and southern drawl. Even the island black youth are emulating southern black culture. If you go west towards the everglades you will find southern whites biker boys flying rebel flags whith pride, especially in Broward county. Yes Miami is southern both geographically and culturally.
And for every 1 of those southern confederate flag weaving bozos is a thousand transplants from the North or Cuba.
Miami may be in the South but it isn't Southern culture in the least.
Once you cross that bridge to the real Miami it has plenty of southern culture in Miami Gardens, Opelika, Carol City, and Liberty City. There is more trailer park culture in South Florida than any place I've ever been, and the rebel flag is very prevalent contrary to popular belief.

Lived in South Fl full-time for several years and still own a condo there. What does living in Atlanta have to do with it? Have you been to or lived in said areas, I highly doubt it. Why are you people so defensive? I'm not bashing Miami in anyway, but squashing this notion that it doesn't have southern elements.
Dude, before I moved to Houston I was here once a month for work (for about 3-5 days) and to visit my father. I may not have lived here as long as you have but over the course of my life, I have probably spent more time in Houston than you have. I stand by what I said and no I don't find Houston to be as fashion forward or trendy.
It's stuff like that from posters who are either so hyper-sensitive or who are so smug and think they know more about certain places than you do even when they don't have anywhere near the experience there that you do who are making me sick of this forum. That and people beating dead horses every day like, "Are Miami and DC Southern or not?"
