Cities that you would actually travel to experience their food scenes?
This is a very subjective thread, not an objective one by any means. Want to point that out from the start so that way we can do the civil thing and be respectful to others that may or may not have a divergent opinion from ours.
Anyhow, to get this one going; cuisines a city has that interests you, possibly a city well known for first class atmosphere in its restaurant scene, fresh ingredients or access to produce and foods that you feel give a place an edge, local innovation -- foods that for the MOST part you can only really have in that city, and finally reputation -- cities that you've heard spectacular things about in regards to their culinary offerings by your friends, family, coworkers, or people you associate yourself with.
I usually ask for a top 5 or top 10 but I feel top 5 is too redundant when it comes to the food topic (most people just say the same 5 cities and then recycle in food threads reactivated over the course of time) and top 10 is too much for a list of conceivable travel destinations just for food.
Try Top 7 instead. Give me your Top 7.
Looking forward to reading opinions, possibly seeing pictures or descriptions of things people have experienced and would recommend to others. Thanks in advance. This is a non-competitive thread, preference would be that it stays that way, but I understand if it doesn't (that's cool too).
I've gone a few places where I was very interested in the food, and I'm not generally a food person at all.
New Orleans, LA - for sure one of the top reasons I get here as much as I can
Providencetown, MA/Boston - I actively wanted seafood/lobster/chowder
New York - I love the cheap NYC style pizza....not exotic or luxury, but I very much enjoy eating as much as I can
Vegas - not really a type of food, but I do look up the buffets/brunches when there
Iowa - toally cheating because I'm from there and it's not a big deal - but I always eat tons of breaded tenderloin sandwiches when there. It's such an Iowa thing and I can't find good ones elsewhere. I heard Indiana does them as well.

Only New Orleans. I really can't give you a top 7. If you put a gun to my head I guess in this order it's, NYC, SF, Chicago, Philadelphia, Houston, and LA. But I'm not going out of my way to visit them for food like I would New Orleans.
