SF is the snobbiest city on earth. I've never met a more self-conscious, hypocritical, pretentious group of people in my life. Here is how much respect I have for SF. The other day I was buying something on Ebay. The seller with the cheapest price was from SF. I ended up paying more to buy from a seller from somewhere else just because. New Yorkers can be obnoxious too but at least they are real.

Honestly, there are snobby, smug people EVERYWHERE not just NYC and San Francisco. I wouldn't let that make me pay too much for something. That's just stupid.

Can you natives paint me a picture of a stereotypical modern day San Franciscan? Thanks.

This. I'll take NYers any day. SF is teeming full of entitled, self-absorbed, passive-aggressive, soulless types (whether hipster or techie) with no depth or personality.

That's true but SF takes it to a whole new level. It's the smugness, the irrational liberal attitude, the materialism, the pretentiousness. the insular self-absorbed culture. Stereotypes exist for a reason; there is a certain degree of truth in many of them.

I just don't do business with extreme leftist types. I don't buy Apple because it epitomizes the SF business model. Controlling, materialistic, overpriced, bad service, planned obsolescence, etc. I won't use facebook. I don't go out of my way to help put money in their pockets. Especially, when they are so obsessed with telling other people what they can and can't do with their own money and lives.

But being so smug, they probably believe their shallow selves have a great amount of depth, "frankly, the most depth" said one local at Twenty Five Lusk during a recent brunch.

I wish we could see a Snoot Franciscan repeat what you said but in a serious one upping tone. It would probably begin with a deep chuckle at the others expense.

Oh, the irony. Self-awareness is a rare commodity around these parts.

Please keep your nose out of the air when you respond on my thread. You do know I was being sarcastic when I asked for condescending replies originally, don't you?
