Indianapolis is growing faster and making more improvements. Neither is the best though.

They both have high crime and more run down areas than than other cities their sizes. Indianapolis has made more improvements though, so I would choose Indianapolis over Memphis.

Most Historical: Memphis by a land slide! Memphis has a strong rich history, and was an original powerhouse of the south. Notice how it was set up to mimic Egypt with similar cities around it, Cairo for instance. Memphis also most notably a lot of black history with things like the National Civil Rights museum being a center point. Add the Music History of being the birthplace of Blues and to a large part !

Best Sports Town: Indy ..2 majors 2 minors. NCAA HQ is here as well as The NFL Combine

Most Fun things to do: Memphis just does the things they do better, nightlife more vibrant

Best Downtown: Indy , memphis has work to do in building this area up more.

Best local culture: Memphis by a land slide; so much flavor and history. Indianaplolis is very bland.

Best Food: Memphis BBQ and Soulfood Cuisine the best!

Most Famous: I lived other places and people were more aware of Memphis than Indy.

Cost of living: Memphis Overall

Memphis I enjoyed more overall!

Neither is bad, but definitely not the first on the list of places to move to. If I had to choose, I would choose Indianapolis because it's cleaner and safer.

It would be interesting to hear which city posters feel is more urban and vibrant.
