Your argument was the opposite. What does population of it have anything to do with it... Chicago is ~10X larger than Manhattan Island.

Most actual Chicagoans and NYC respect one another... only the trollios who come in that usually aren't even from the cities who create this "false" argument.

Of course NYC is great...it's NYC...there are other cool U.S. major cities too... Chicago, Boston, Philly etc...they all have their own identity and history worth exploring and can easily stand alone. Chicago is a top "global" city... and we are in a global economy, it's fine. This isn't NYC vs Tulsa we are talking about here.
Why would the comparison of these two cities be limited to economies only? Lets talk about culture. How does Chicago compares here to New York?

You're wrong, you don't have facts.

Lol. There is no "downtown New York". Lol. Even your quote clearly reads "downtown Manhattan" not "downtown New York".

And you claim you lived in Ny? Lol.

If someone from Staten Island or say Queens says they're going downtown, that could be understood to mean Manhattan. Obviously you are the one who knows nothing

"that could be understood to mean Manhattan" "could be?" lol. You are really struggling here, arent ya?

I can help you out, we are very friendly towards tourist from less developed areas of the country: it does not really matter where the person is from but where the person is at the moment. For instance, if someone in Columbus Circle says "i am going downtown" it means he/she is going to or towards "downtown Manhattan".

But thats not the point. The point is that there is "downtown Manhattan" and there is "downtown Brooklyn" but there is no location in the city referred to as "downtown New York". There is no such thing and the only reason people say downtown Manhattan is to avoid confusion with downtown Brooklyn. Very nice are by the way.

You should visit our city some day lol

Umm not true. My coworker who lives in Queens always says he is going downtown when he is going to Brooklyn. (We both work in Brooklyn).

Thats cause Downtown? Uptown are directions, so Queens is "Above" Brooklyn on a map (well NNE) so Downtown would be south or down on a map, so the Brox in Uptown from Harlam, same with the state, upstate is North Downstate is south.

Well, he is kind of right. There is no such thing as "downtown New York", and there is no such phrase too. There is however, "downtown Manhattan", but its not downtown New York... its downtown Manhattan.

I'd say for most New Yorkers "downtown New York" would be the whole Manhattan island. Or maybe Manhattan minus uptown/Harlem.

That's not what I said. I said there is 'downtown' and there is 'dowtown Manhattan'. 'Downtown' means lower Manhattan. So New York City has a downtown. If you Google 'Downtown New York' You'll see the hotels and businesses applying that usage. Nobody in Manhattan would say 'I'm going downtown' and mean Brooklyn, nor would they say "I'm going to downtown Manhattan. As for somebody in Brooklyn saying they are going 'downtown' good for them, if you live there you can speak in that local sense and people will get it. To most of the world, and to New York City, lower Manhattan is 'Downtown', period.
