I'm not going to break everything above down but Georgia is a tier ahead of TN on the national ladder.

GA is in same tier with NC, VA, MI and NJ.

TN would be in the same tier with MO, IN, MD, and maybe WI.

Well, Metro Atlanta more than trumps all 4 of Tennessee's metros COMBINED. In fact, Atlanta's CSA population (6.3 million) is almost as big as the entire state of Tennessee (6.6 million).

Georgia has the historic and cultural behemoth of Savannah, which some may compare to Chattanooga as a tourist destination ... but it's really apples and oranges and not a fair comparison. Savannah wins.

As for economy, there's nothing in Tennessee that comes close to the impact of both Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta (world's busiest) or the Port of Savannah (nation's 3rd busiest).

The Great Smokey Mountains NP is a national treasure for sure; but Georgia's coastline is equally unique and beautiful, plus it contributes enormously to our economy because of the ports (at both Savannah and Brunswick).

Emory and Georgia Tech outrank Vanderbilt.

Nashville has long been a center for music production, but Atlanta has a huge music, film AND television industry that's worth billions of dollars annually and continues to boom at a ridiculous rate. The 2nd largest film studio in the country (Pinewood) is already in Metro Atlanta (Fayette County) and is still expanding. It's where all the Marvel blockbusters are filmed.

Beauty is really in the eye of the beholder and comes down to personal preference. As for excitement, I think most people would agree that the hustle and bustle and media glitz of Atlanta is more exciting than anything in Nashville, Memphis or Tennessee.

Actually, TN is in good company in that tier. They're all around the same size in population, and have respectful GDP and have their strengths. Undermining (or do you mean "underestimating) TN would be comparing it to say, Mississippi or Arkansas.

Sup with all these Tennessee Threads
There is a new poster who has resurrected just about every TN thread and every Nashville thread. It is either extreme boosterism or performance art.
