No surprise the wealthy elites of SF, SJ and NYC are at the bottom.

What's the murder rate for rich white politicians in DC on the Middle East? Anyone have a number?

Hartford is pretty misleading though. It's only 17 square miles and it has the same metro population as Memphis, a city that's over 300 square miles. New England cities have tiny city limits. Providence is only 18.5 square miles, New Haven 18.7 square miles, and Boston has small city limits for a major metro area too (42 square miles).

Can't believe Providence has 0 murders so far. Even Portland, Maine has 1. And Boston only 6. So Hartford is still worse than those cities, but I definitely don't think it's anywhere near Memphis/Detroit level.

Default Boreatwork

Is Detroit on pace to have only around 150 murders this year?

Probably over 200. We're still only around 1/4 through the year and spring just started so the numbers will pick up. Would be pretty incredible if it only logs around 200 for the year after having 300 last year. But I still think it will hit around 250 in the end.

It's been like that for the past 2 years, then NYC catches up by the end. It tends to have an uptick during the summer. Hopefully this year NYC can end below 300 murders, definitely has potential to be that way.

Atlanta is still at 17 as of 4/1, down 29% YTD, however a strange murder happened in Midtown in the middle of the day this week(White male gunned down an Asian female attourney) so that likely goes up to 18 next update. Still, only had 2 murders in the last month which is a GREAT month for Atlanta. So far, Atlanta is having a great year when it comes to murder rates.

One thing though with Atlanta is that all other crimes are sooo down from 2009 which was one of Atlanta's lowest murder years of the last 40 or so years. It's just that Atlanta still struggles with murders, but crimes like Burglary, Larceny. Auto Theft, Robbery, and Aggravated Assault are all down 30+% in all of those categories. So Atlanta other than gun violence, is down a lot in all crimes over the last 20-30 years. We just need the gun violence to catch up with the mass gentrification that's taken place over the last 20 years.

Hopefully, this great year continues...maybe Atlanta can finally leave the top 50 highest murder rate cities altogether this year.

Don't forget Springfield 1, Waterbury 2, Bridgeport 6 New Bedford 2 Lawrence 2 Worchester 1 Brockton 2.

CT cities are pretty small. Hartford North End small area is killing field. Providence bit less than dangerous than Bridgeport Hartford New Haven
