True...There is some variation within the zips, but some areas would fit better than others.

That general area is similar to Dorchester County SC in population and Black percentage, just as a frame of reference.

Even still, the Deep South is way too different and even the urban form isn't all that similar (SI is still a LOT denser than most of the South). Maybe you should say Staten Island is like the heartland of NYC or something.

I hate the term "heartland" but that's exactly what I'm saying in a lighthearted, joking way. I still think you are taking it way too literally.


I think people from NY would get what I'm saying but that's probably my fault since this is the general US forum and the vast majority of people here are not from NYC and probably are not familiar at all with Staten Island.

I know what you're getting at in that Staten Island is the odd man out among the boroughs. I just think the Deep South reference is still a bit too far off.
