Houston and Oklahoma City are the cities on the list that appeal to me the most.I would choose Houston.

With 60K a year one should be able to live comfortbly pretty much anywhere in the US shy of NYC, LA/Bay Area and perhaps Boston and DC.

With a partner and kids this would look different again.
I think you can be fine in DC. You just need not live in the city. You can live in the burbs and be fine with that.

They are on fire right now, it's pretty crazy. Prices have skyrocketed in large swaths of the area.

They are putting together a very nice core though, it's becoming quite impressive.

There are still a few hidden gem areas inside 285, but they're vanishing fast. It's to the point in many of the popular neighborhoods that offers over asking price are routine now, and bidding wars are common.

Compared to what we went through during the Recession, it's amazing to witness.

As opposed to those cities that are so lacking---sometimes even in the basics---that being dirt cheap is practically the only reason many people even choose to live there. Depends on which you value more; it's an individual's decision and depends on the person.

They should have population numbers if they are going to have job numbers. Doesn't really matter if one place has 20k more jobs if they have 500k more people

There is way more here in my less expensive city than there was in my overpriced city. Too many people, aka suckers, want live in horribly overpriced cities that are lacking in many ways just for the privilege of having a popular zip code.

What was your "overpriced" city?

I'd rather keep paying for my over-priced, under-sized apartment then have to move to any of those places...You definitely get what you pay for, especially in opportunity.
