Hello,
I wanted to get some feedback on the suburbs of Boston and Detroit.
Here's the criteria:

a. Warmer tolerable weather year round
b. Cost of living/cost of home or rentals
c. Diversity
d. Affordable quality education for kids through public schools
e. Tolerable traffic during peak hours/availability of public transportation
f. Scenic beauty/easy access to recreation
g. Social life
h. Peaceful / reasonably less crime rate

Thanks!

In terms of affordability/lower COL, Detroit suburbs generally are in comparison. Detroit suburbs are generally more diverse in terms of non white groups, but Boston suburbs likely have more groups in its more diverse suburbs.

Affordable high quality educational options may depend on what is high quality to you, but Detroit suburban districts such as Berkeley, Farmington and Plymouth-Canton are a few that are relatively affordable, are of high quality and has a visible degree of diversity.

Hopefully others will add more.

A. Both Cold but I think Detroit has slightly worse winters. Boston has pretty nice Summers though.
B. Detroit is a lot cheaper for sure
C. Both about the same with Boston having more Hispanics and Detroit having more Asians I think.
D. Boston has better schools
E. Boston has worse traffic
F. Depends what you like, Detroit has the lakes but Boston has some hills and isn't too far away from the scenic beauty of the upper North East.
G. Depends what kind of social life you like
H. Boston.

Between the two it sort of depends on what you're looking for and how much you want to spend. I think Boston offers a little more overall but the Detroit burbs certainly have their perks.
