Which is better considering identical populations. Crime, weather, culture. For a family to move I am considering moving out of the east coast and its narrowed down to these two cities.

It's a pretty apples-to-walnuts comparison TBH.

Denver's bigger, vastly more important on the national scene, has better amenities, has a stronger economy, is less isolated, closer to skiing, better mountains, colder winters, milder summers, and considerably more expensive from a COL perspective.

I would pick El Paso over Denver but Denver is far more desirable to most people.

I hear El Paso is actually a safe city to live in, considering its size. Its got better weather, and better culture. El Paso wins this easily.

I used to live in El Paso in 2007. I loved it. Very laid back and down to earth. No glitz and glamour. Very nice people and affordable. A great place to start epic road trips.

Tough call for me. I like Denver, but El Paso isn't bad. Friendly people, safe city, great weather.
